Build a Pool - Dig a Well

Paradise Pools and Gardens is a company with a passion for doing beautiful things with water. Locally, this goal translates into building beautiful custom water features and landscapes for our clients. Globally, it translates into helping to bring clean water to places around the world where it is desperately needed.

Contaminated water and poor sanitation are factors in 80% of all disease in the developing world. Every 21 seconds a child dies from a water-related illness. Lack of clean water also leads to failed crops and the death of livestock, crippling communities so that they are unable to produce food for themselves.

A few of us from Paradise Pools and Gardens traveled to the Dominican Republic last summer, bringing with us water purification equipment to be installed. While there we were able to see first hand the effects that the lack of adequate access to clean water has on a community. An increased awareness of this dire situation that affects 2.7 billion people on the planet lead us to the decision to contribute $500 of the profit from every new pool project to the West Africa Water Initiative sponsored by World Vision International (check out the links below for more information and to learn about more ways you can help). Drilling wells and supplying water purification equipment are just a couple of the ways World Vision is working to provide communities with access to clean water, a common result being that the child mortality rate in these communities is cut in half!
